The Messi Store™
A multi-disciplinary approach to a legendary celebration
The Messi Store serves as the official online destination for The Messi Brand, the premium lifestyle line inspired by soccer legend Leo Messi. Their mission is to translate Leo’s values, vision, and sportsmanship from the pitch into a cohesive apparel collection, ensuring these principles remain at the heart of their brand identity. By focusing on innovative design and thoughtful curation, they aim to elevate the Messi experience for fans and customers alike.

The Mission
The goal was to conceptualize, design, and execute a campaign that celebrated Leo Messi's most recent triumph in winning "La Copa América," while simultaneously promoting and expanding The Messi Brand and The Messi Store. At the heart of this initiative was a series of postcards featuring iconic moments from Leo’s career, which were given away for free to fans. To ensure everyone could easily access these postcards, we designed a user-friendly landing page. Ultimately, this project aims to broaden brand awareness, attract new customers, and assess the market potential of The Messi Brand.
Sketching The Magic
In the sketching phase, I created some rough designs that captured the essence of Leo Messi in action. These initial sketches focused on dynamic poses that showcased his agility and dynamic nature. By keeping the designs loose and expressive, I aimed to convey the excitement of Messi’s iconic moments, setting the stage for vibrant postcards that fans would truly connect with.
Kicking Off Creativity
To create a diverse collection of designs, I employed various graphic design techniques, exploring typography, color, and composition to achieve balanced and visually stunning graphics. Each piece highlights memorable moments of Messi playing for Argentina, alongside others showcasing his time with Barcelona. By blending different styles and elements, I aimed to capture the excitement and energy of his performances, resulting in a vibrant array of postcards that celebrate his incredible journey on the field.
Iconic Postcards That Keep It Creative and Clean!
After several rounds of designs and revisions, the stakeholders selected three standout designs to be printed as the final products. These were chosen from the full collection displayed above and underwent modifications to ensure no other logos were present, helping to avoid any potential legal issues. The final designs exclusively feature Messi in action for Argentina, with creative tweaks to the uniforms that retain key colors and elements of his logo. This thoughtful approach ensured that the postcards celebrated Messi’s achievement while remaining legally sound.
Landing Page Sketches
The next step was to create a landing page to showcase and give away the postcards. Since it was just a single page, there was no need for a full site map. The goal was to keep everything simple and seamless, so we combined both the postcard display and the checkout in one place. This hybrid approach made it easier for fans to access the postcards and avoided any unnecessary steps or confusion.
Low Fidelity
The low-fidelity wireframe was simple and efficient, focusing on a single landing page that combined both the postcard display and the checkout. The goal was to create a seamless user experience, keeping everything in one place for easy access.
Style Guide
The style guide was built using the brand guidelines of "The Messi Brand." Since it's still a relatively new brand, it was crucial to stick closely to their aesthetic. This way, customers could easily recognize the brand through the design elements and visuals on the landing page, helping to strengthen brand identity.
Finishing The Design
Following "The Messi Brand" guidelines and aesthetic, I developed the high-fidelity wireframe. This prototype was shared with stakeholders for review and was approved without any further changes, ensuring everything was aligned with the brand vision before moving forward with the development process.
Additional work
Once the postcards and website were completed, a set of social media posts for Facebook and Instagram was requested. These posts were designed to promote the campaign and drive traffic to the new landing page, where fans could easily place their orders. The goal was to create eye-catching content that aligned with the brand's aesthetic and effectively redirected users to the landing page.
Social Media Posts
Here’s a brief animation showcasing several social media designs I created for The Messi Store and Leo's accounts. This animation features the actual posts that were uploaded to their respective accounts, and you can view one of these designs here
Postalcard Prints
Since I wanted to experience the whole project from start to finish, I decided to order my own set of postcards. The postcards arrived a couple of weeks after the promotion ended. Here you can check out the actual prints I received, and they turned out really well!
Further Work
Once the project wrapped up, The Messi Brand team asked for my help with some minor creative tasks, and I was excited to dive in! This mainly involved creating fresh designs for their social media, especially for their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
