The Mission

The mission for this project was to take a multidisciplinary approach in preparation for the launch of Smash Park's new website. This involved simultaneously working on multiple design projects, including an updated Brand Book, a website refresh, web display ads, and posters and flyers for new hiring opportunities, along with social media animated ads. The goal was to create a cohesive and engaging brand presence across all platforms, ensuring that every design element aligned with Smash Park's vibrant identity while effectively communicating their offerings and values to the community.

The project began with a refresh of Smash Park's Brand Book, which aimed to create a more robust and comprehensive resource for the brand. While Smash Park already had several established brand elements, the need arose for a detailed guide outlining the do's and don'ts of brand usage. This updated deck defined the proper application of existing elements, such as fonts, patterns, and icons, ensuring consistency across all communications.

Unleashing the Brand Spirit

The finalized Brand Book effectively captures the essence of Smash Park by integrating both existing and new brand elements. This comprehensive guide not only showcases their vibrant identity but also introduces several new graphic elements that enhance their visual language. Additionally, a selection of sample designs illustrates how the updated branding is meant to function and appear across various applications.

Conceptualization

The next step in the process was kicking off the website refresh, beginning with the conceptualization phase. This involved crafting a detailed site map that aligned with Smash Park's needs, ensuring a smooth and engaging user experience. With the site map in place, the next focus was on developing low-fidelity wireframes to establish the basic layout and content flow of each page, setting the foundation for a dynamic and user-friendly website.

Medium Fidelity

Once the low-fidelity wireframes received approval, we moved on to creating medium-fidelity wireframes, which provided a more detailed representation of the website's structure and layout. These wireframes were presented to the stakeholders for review, ensuring that the design aligned with their vision for the project.

Style Guide

With the approval of the medium-fidelity wireframes, I created a simplified web style guide that incorporated the updated branded elements from the refreshed Brand Book. This guide outlined the key design components for the website, including typography, color palettes, and buttons.

Implementation

After completing the previous steps, I began the final design phase for the updated website. This involved translating the established wireframes and style guide into visually engaging and cohesive web pages. Each design was crafted to reflect Smash Park’s energetic brand identity, incorporating the updated elements from the Brand Book while ensuring a user-friendly experience. Careful attention was paid to layout, imagery, and interactive features, creating a dynamic online environment that captures the spirit of Smash Park and invites visitors to explore everything the venue has to offer.

Lights, Camera, Smash Park!

One of the key elements the client wanted for the new website was a full-screen video used as the masthead, creating a striking first impression for visitors. By incorporating the video as the masthead, the design aimed to immediately immerse users in the energetic atmosphere of Smash Park, effectively capturing the essence of the brand right from the moment they land on the site.

Choose Your Adventure

To enhance user experience, the client requested functionality that would allow visitors to select different locations from anywhere on the website. In response, a dynamic location selector was integrated at the top of the main navigation. This feature enables users to easily choose their preferred Smash Park location, with the website content automatically updating to reflect the selected venue. This seamless integration ensures that users receive relevant information and offerings specific to their chosen location, making it easier for them to engage with the brand and plan their visits.

Play, Drink, Eat!

Smash Park's vibrant slogan, "Play, Drink, Eat," reflects the diverse offerings at each location. To highlight these unique experiences, we created individual pages for each category—play, drink, and eat. With the dynamic location selector in place, the content on these pages automatically updates to showcase the specific offerings available at each Smash Park venue. This design ensures that visitors can easily explore and discover the distinct activities, beverages, and menu items tailored to their chosen location, enhancing their overall experience.

Your Smash Park Playbook

Each location features its own dedicated page that provides a comprehensive overview of all offerings available at that venue. These pages include detailed information like address, working hours, activities, menus, leagues, and booking opportunities, allowing visitors to explore everything Smash Park has to offer in one convenient place.

Simple Yet Striking

Once the website design was finalized and approved, we turned our attention to creating simple yet eye-catching web ads for the launch campaign. Each ad prominently featured Smash Park's slogan, logo, and a subtle animation designed to grab attention.

Join the Team!

Another asset requested for the campaign was a series of flyers and posters promoting the job fair and highlighting the "Now Hiring" initiative in preparation for the opening of new locations. These materials were designed to attract potential candidates by showcasing the energetic environment and exciting opportunities at Smash Park.

Tempting Taste Buds

Last but not least, a series of animated ads were created to showcase some of Smash Park's most popular dishes, designed to grab attention and entice users to click through for more information. These vibrant animations highlighted the mouthwatering menu items in a fun and engaging way, effectively drawing potential visitors in and encouraging them to explore the diverse culinary offerings that await them at Smash Park.
